ABOUT ME

Tatjana Parsamian moved to the United States in 2010 from Vienna, Austria, where she was the owner of the largest classical Pilates studio “City Pilates”. She immediately started teaching at Excel Pilates, Classical Pilates Studio in Washington, DC, for Lesa McLauglin, student of Romana Kryzanowska.

Tatjana developed and taught her own “Contrology” Pilates Teacher Training Program throughout Europe (Austria, Germany, Italy, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Switzerland, Croatia, Cyprus) and gave Master Classes at Pilates and Fitness conventions in Vienna, Essen (FIBO), Budapest, and Zagreb. Tatjana’s initial Pilates training was through B.A.S.I. and Peak Pilates, USA, and is a PMA (Pilates Method Alliance) certified Pilates Professional.

Understanding that knowledge is a continuous experience and the importance of the pure Pilates Method of Body Conditioning, Tatjana keeps exploring the depths of working with different bodies and mind sets. She has over ten years of teaching experience working with a wide spectrum of people. Her students have ranged from 14 to 84 years old, and have included professional body builders, swimmers, dancers and golfers, as well as people with injuries and different health conditions, and pregnant women. She is a mother of a four year old boy, and she never stopped moving during her pregnancy. Knowing the sensation of being pregnant, she lead many students through their Pilates and pregnancy journey with joy and success.

Tatjana is a professional Aerobics, Dance, Step, and Zumba Master trainer educated in Munich, Germany and Buenos Aires, Argentina. She also holds Bachelor and Master degrees from Vienna (Austria) University for Music and Performing Arts in Piano Performance & Piano Pedagogy.

Classical Pilates in “Pilates Point DC” – The Difference:

“In 10 sessions you will feel the difference, in 20 sessions you will see the difference, and in 30 sessions you will have a whole new body.”

Those words were on Joseph Pilates business cards back in the days and they probably brought more people to the Pilates Studios worldwide than any other marketing tool. But is it really possible? Is it possible to change your body and mind so quickly? YES! All you need is a drop of curiosity, a bit of discipline, a good teacher, and a place to spread out on the floor (in between your sessions). Joseph Pilates created a system of exercises on Mat and Apparatus that really works. I, as a classical Pilates teacher, try to preserve his original Method of Body Conditioning, by:

-Teaching Pilates in its original form – the way Joseph designed it
-Using a systematic order of exercises
-Linking exercises seamlessly with transitions, so the session becomes one flowing movement
-Focusing on that flow to develop stamina and endurance (and yes, those killer, gorgeous looking lean muscles!)
-Adopting the training to EVERYBODY (from injured, de-conditioned student to elite athlete)
-Teaching progressive and systematic sessions
-Teaching students to work with a quiet mind, using the 6 Pilates Principles
-Teaching Pilates as a movement system linked with specific purpose
-Using Mat and Classical Pilates Apparatus (by Gratz Industries, L.L.C, and Pilates Designs by Basil), knowing that Pilates Body Conditioning Method is a clever mix of all pieces of Equipment invented by Joseph Pilates
-Teaching students to gradually work independently, by giving them “homework” (mostly Mat exercises, since everybody nowadays has a mat at home), that way they progressively own the system and can use the Method on their own, away from “Pilates Point DC”.

Contrology is a movement system that was created and named by Joseph Hubertus Pilates
He used to exclaim:

“Trust the system! The system works!”

A movement system has a goal to:
-Improve the ability of the deep muscles to guide and control the movement
-Focus on improving motor control
-Focus on quality of movement over quantity
-Produce and control movement within the functional range Classical Pilates meets all of these elements, and helps the body to transform.
Joseph Pilates created the very unique Apparatus, based on spring resistance: -The springs provide assistance and resistance and help the body learn faster
-It helps you to really feel how to move from your center because of the support provided by the springs
-It challenges your stability with its unstable surfaces
-It was created to support the Mat Work

“Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness. Our interpretation of physical fitness is the attainment and maintenance of a uniformly developed body with a sound mind, fully capable of naturally, easily and satisfactorily performing our many and varied daily tasks with spontaneous zest and pleasure.”

 Joseph Hubertus Pilates

BENEFITS AND GOALS

Home: Classes

PILATES is a conscious way back to our bodies.

-Healthier Life (Body-Mind-Soul awareness)
-Alignment, Moving Pattern and Breathing are in direct connection with self-esteem, energy and Body “feeling”

-In what directions do I move my spine in a Pilates session? You will learn to move you spine in so many different directions you never did before. Joseph Pilates used to say:
“You are only as old as your spine is”. In other words, if your spine is rigid at 18, you are old. If your spine is flexible at 75, you are young.

PILATES PRINCIPLES:

Concentration
Centering
Precision
Control
Breathing
Flowing Movement

ENGRAMS:

Repeated moves become muscle memory and register in your brain. Did you know that a human body needs ca. 5000 repetitions in order to memorize the move? That is called motoric memory, vital to Pilates training.

“One of the major results of Contrology is gaining the mastery of the mind over the complete control of your body.”

Joseph Hubertus Pilates

TESTIMONIALS

"Tatjana is an outstanding trainer with an amazing knowledge, great technique and experience in Pilates. She is not only very respectful and mindful of my body´s limitations due to my lower back pain but also very eager that I get the most of the training every time. She has taken the time to get to know me and my body, she is thorough and detail oriented from beginning to end, pushes me to work hard but at the same time to enjoy and get to know better this wonderful practice called Pilates. After every session I come out full of energy, positivism and a great sense of accomplishment. I always look forward to my sessions with Tatjana. She is a great teacher and I highly recommend her"

Susana M.

I can't speak highly enough of Tatjana and Pilates Point DC. I started working with Tatjana over a year ago when I was newly pregnant; her patience, attention, and skill helped enormously with my mobility, strength, and well-being and I think accelerated my recovery time dramatically. Now that I'm not longer doing modified sessions, I'm astounded at the variety of different workouts each session entails, and at how energized and calm I feel after each one.

Tatjana is an incredibly professional, attentive, and patient teacher. I trust her completely. Her workouts are challenging in the best sense, yet she always breaks the most difficult parts into manageable pieces that leave you feeling accomplished.
